SAIC Completes Acquisition of bd Systems, Inc.
SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, VA, September 11, 2006 --
Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC)
announced today that it has completed the acquisition of bd
Systems, Inc. Based in Torrance, Calif., bd Systems is a
provider of aerospace engineering and information technology
(IT) services.
The acquisition integrates bd System's engineering and IT
expertise with SAIC's technical and operational presence
within the aerospace marketplace, providing expanded
capabilities and depth to better serve the growing
challenges facing the nation in space superiority.
The bd Systems organization will be maintained as a
subsidiary associated with SAIC's Space and Geospatial
Intelligence Business, led by Senior Vice President and
General Manager K. Stuart Shea, in Chantilly, Va. "As we
continue to focus on excellence in support of our customers
and their most challenging missions, we are pleased by the
significant potential for growth that this acquisition
brings to both SAIC and the employees of bd Systems," said
Shea. "We are pleased to welcome bd Systems' employees and
leadership to the SAIC family."
bd Systems employs more than 330 people supporting
government and commercial clients in more than 20 locations
throughout the U.S., including Los Angeles, Calif.; Colorado
Springs, Colo.; Huntsville, Ala.; San Antonio, Texas;
Vandenberg AFB, Calif.; and Washington, D.C. Their core
capabilities include systems engineering, enterprise network
management, aerospace engineering logistics and sustainment
support, geographical information systems, and acquisition
support.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
