SAIC Subsidiary bd Systems, Inc. to Continue Support of
Bay Area's 511 Regional Transit Information System
SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, VA, October 30, 2006 -- Science
Applications International Corporation [NYSE: SAI] announced
today that bd Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of
SAIC, has won a contract with the Metropolitan
Transportation Commission (MTC) to continue development,
operations and maintenance of the San Francisco Bay Area’s
511 Regional Transit Information System (RTIS). MTC is the
nine-county San Francisco Bay Area’s transportation
planning, coordinating and financing agency.
The time and materials contract, valued at more than $11
million over the next four years, will allow bd Systems to
continue its vital activities to MTC that have been provided
over the last nine years. In addition, bd Systems and its
four teammates on the project will provide evaluation advice
and development expertise to deliver an expanded and
enhanced RTIS to support the growing base of users in the
nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.
“The RTIS project will allow MTC to continue providing a
reliable Web-based trip planner, while developing and
delivering a state-of-the-art, next-generation trip planner
to meet the anticipated growth in usage in the region,” said
Tom Spiekerman, project manager for MTC. The RTIS project
consolidates information for over 30 Bay Area transit
service providers on the 511 Transit Web site at
transit.511.org.
