bd Systems’ SENSOR OSS&E Team Earns 2005 ITT Systems Division President’s Achievement Award

TORRANCE, California, 07 February 2006 – The bd Systems Operational Safety, Suitability and Effectiveness (OSS&E) team was selected for the prestigious ITT Systems Division President’s Achievement Award for 2005. The team won the award in the Customer Service category for demonstrated outstanding performance in support of their customer, through the SENSOR program. The bd Systems OSS&E team garnered praise from SENSOR’s Government customer for their exceptional responsiveness to customer needs in the area of managing operational certifications.

The ITT Systems Division’s SENSOR program provides sustainment and modernization for the Air Force’s worldwide network of space surveillance and missile warning and defense sensors. bd Systems is a teammate on the SENSOR contract. During the past year, the bd Systems OSS&E team focused on the management of operational certifications for the supported sites. The certifications are covered under a myriad of separate Air Force and DoD directives affecting system security, mission effectiveness, and safety of site operations. The bd Systems OSS&E team revised the overall operational certification program management process and developed checklists, tools and manuals for use by project engineers and managers. The team also introduced concise presentations on certification status for SENSOR and Government customer senior leaders. The result was a dramatic improvement in overall attention to operational certifications and enhanced cooperation between the SENSOR contract team, Government System Program Office and the operational user community.

The ITT Systems Division President’s Achievement Award program recognizes individuals or groups of employees whose singular outstanding effort and exceptional results reflect directly and tangibly on ITT Systems Division’s image and position in the business community. As a teammate, the bd Systems team has established a solid record of doing just that.

This year’s award marks the second time the bd Systems’ SENSOR OSS&E program management team was recognized with the President’s Achievement Award for its superior contributions to ITT Systems Division.
