bd Systems on Team Selected for Deep Space Network Operations and
Maintenance Support Work
TORRANCE,
California, September 2003 - The team headed by ITT and including bd
Systems has been selected to provide operations and maintenance support
for NASA's Deep Space Network (DSN)
We had been notified by ITT Industries Systems
Division that the team headed by ITT and including bd Systems has been
selected to provide operations and maintenance support for NASA's Deep
Space Network (DSN). The DSN is an international network of antennas
providing communications between NASA's facilities on earth and its
spacecraft sent to explore the solar system and the universe. There are
currently three such communications facilities: at Goldstone, in the
Mojave Desert of Southern California; near Canberra, Australia; and near
Madrid, Spain.
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), a division of the California
Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California, operates and manages
the DSN for NASA. The contract from JPL to ITT could last for up to ten
years, and bd will provide network operations and network engineering
services primarily at JPL.
