Electronic Combat Data

bd Systems developed a complex relational database to support an experimental aircraft. The database is the backbone of a program to develop algorithms for situation awareness, target acquisition, identification, automatic recognition and target intent that is used to fuse multiple types of intelligence information (EO and SAR, SIGINT, digital cartographic and off-board intelligence broadcast data) into a smart "picture" for transmission to and use by tactical warfighters.

This Electronic Combat Database (ECDB) is a unique PC-based system designed to accommodate site-related data (Installations, Facilities, Emitters, etc.), parametric values and units. Baseline information for the Site, Unit, and Emitter (EOB) data is drawn from the Modernized Integrated Database (MIDB). Baseline information for the Parametric module is drawn from the ELINT Parameter Limits (EPL) list, Electronic Warfare Integrated Reprogramming (EWIR) database, and SENSOR PHOENIX (radar, special signals, and radio modules). ECDB is capable of receiving and storing TDDS, TADIX-B, and TIBS message traffic for subsequent analysis and display. Locational data from the database and message traffic are displayed on maps with the capability to overlay imagery from various sources (NIMA, LANDSAT, SPOT, etc.). Spatial, temporal, and activity filters are incorporated into the database to assist the analyst. The ECDB is an ongoing project with the capability to accommodate additional message traffic formats (i.e. IBS) and data types as the program progresses.
