For competitive businesses,
the goal of technology is to create competitive advantages. Today's
powerful computing and networking environments create unlimited
opportunities for innovative new customer services, increased
employee productivity, and higher profitability. However,
all the benefits of advanced technology can disappear in an instant
if the system
is not secure. As a company's dependence on enterprise computing
and network systems increases, so does its dependence on security,
data integrity, and reliability mechanisms.
Unfortunately,
computer crime and abuse is a serious issue and is on the rise.
It seems like
every day, we hear about a new virus or computer break-in. One
of the biggest reasons firms are vulnerable is because they have
NOT established and implemented a formal security policy. As
a result, their systems are NOT consistently configured and weaknesses
are common. Carnegie Mellon University estimated that 99% of
all reported intrusions "Result through the exploitation
of known vulnerabilities or configuration errors, for which countermeasures
were available." That's the bad news, the good news is that
these security problems are preventable.
bd Systems has extensive experience using Internet
Security Scanner (ISS), Enterprise Security Manager (ESM), Intruder
Alert, and the
CITS NMS/BIP suite of security tools. In fact, we have used the
CITS NMS/BIP suite of tools since its inception and continually
examine and recommend improvements for network security and additions
to Air Force standards. Security policies have been prepared and
implemented. And we have developed and implemented governement
approved processes and proceedures for managing classified contamination
for a large populous to ensure rapid and effective containment
and decontamination.
To support these information protection and assurace activities,
bd Systems has developed an in-house information protection laboratory
located in its Colorado Springs facility. The lab provides numerous
operating system platforms, including Unix, Linux, and Windows,
configured to allow the simulation of computer network defense
and attack. Software tools such as Nmap, SuperScan, SNScan, Whisker,
Nikto, Snort, IDS Center, Nessus, and others are used in the lab
to evaluate security relevant issues, identify "hacker" footprints
and profiles, and to provide hands on training to our information
protection staff.
Currently, our staff includes experienced information protection
professionals with numerous professional certifications (CISSP,
MCSE, MCSA, MSCD, CCNA, DITSCAP and NSA IAM).
Our Services:
- Perform firewall management, maintenance and
administration.
- Configure and maintain base network perimeter
equipment to prevent exploitation via any known vulnerabilities
- Develop and implement network security plans
- Install and operate Government approved audit
tools to test and validate network security
- Protect the network from malicious code
- Change administrator passwords on Government
computer systems & network communications systems
